Note: This is my first time reviewing a graphic novel, bear with me! Huge holes in Chris Claremont's Uncanny X-Men run, for example, are disappointing. If you can do it all, then it’s better for you and for them. However, with the right attitude and preparation, your convention experience can provide an informative look at the many possibilities of working in this industry, whether for us or one of the many other publishers. Stephenson announced that Grant Morrison would be teaming up with artist Darick Robertson (The Boys, Transmetropolitan) to bring the comic Happy! to Image Comics.

It also doesn’t take into account variant cover incentives or collectors who buy multiple copies of a single title. Think of Xena Warrior Princess meets Spartacus. That was when I knew I had to check this book out. Results are now in on the 2012 Irish Comic News awards! Overall, compared with what traditional publishers pay out, royalty rates for self-published books are actually quite decent. This seemed unlikely, given their modest financial means -- they were still paying off debt from a $300,000 bank loan taken out in 1979 at 25 percent interest -- but the brothers were industrious, not to mention ballsy.
