Armstrong was born on July 4, 1900 in New Orleans. Prohibition in the United States (from 1920 to 1933) banned the sale of alcoholic drinks, resulting in illicit speakeasies becoming lively venues of the "Jazz Age", an era when popular music included current dance songs, novelty songs, and show tunes. Baroque palaces are built around an entrance of courts, grand staircases and reception rooms of sequentially increasing opulence. It's in my opinion the most complicated yet relaxing music there is. Only in the 1920s did jazz music begin to employ complex harmonies that went well beyond ragtime harmony. If you find that you do have the uncontrollable urge to react negatively and reply with childish comments, I’ll help you out based on some of the previous comments: I’m not a creepy 30 to 40 year old who listens to 80’s music… I’m 45 years old and have already listed my musical preferences.

Other hugely popular crossover jazz artists include Grover Washington, Jr. and David Sanborn.
